Woke up this morning to another clear, cool morning that turned into a
clear, cool, sunny day. Beautiful weather for working in the garden.
We've decided to expand our original plans for the winter garden and are
now planting chard, radishes, lettuce, mesclun, carrots, broccoli,
cauliflower, and cabbage. Miz Anne just couldn't resist tossing in some
more stuff and we do like our fresh veggies.

The chiles, hot and sweet, have slowed their growth drastically and I'm
gonna move a couple of big pots of them into the green house today. Will
have to leave the door open most of the day but the additional heat
should put the chiles back on track.

The huge Ponderosa lemons are starting to turn yellow so it won't be
much longer before I'm making marmalade, putting up lemon juice cubes,
and making zest. The kumquats are still a deep green and it will be a
while before we're ready to eat those. The sunchokes are in full bloom
and I've been checking the roots for size, will be having some sunchoke
root for dinner tonight, washed, sliced, and cooked in a non-stick
skillet. Also put on a big pot of crockpot stew today. That will get
frozen in containers for "fast food" on those chilly evenings. Fresh
loaf of bread is in the breadmaker and we're already planning for
Thanksgiving including our kids, grandkids, and grandpets.

Hope all are having good weather and good gardening. Life is good.

George
