Well, most of the food has been eaten, the turkey carcass simmered down into soup stock, and the ham bone prepared for making a pot of beans in December or January. The grandkids are still sleeping so it's peaceful at the Shirley Hacienda. My beautiful daughter and granddaughter got up early with me and we've had a pleasant visit and planned out a big breakfast for when the boys awaken. Miz Anne had a bad night so is sleeping in for a change. Her sinuses kicked in about 11 am yesterday and the headache lasted into the wee hours of the morning. I cooked the turkey with onions, rosemary branches, and garlic chives in the body cavity and it came out quite good. The flavor held true into the soup stock so I think there will be some good soups later on. The ham was basted with the old standby brown sugar/crushed pineapple sauce and was also good. The dogs benefited from some leftovers. Kids and grandkids go home today as they have things to do at home and we will miss them, as usual. Friends will start dropping by this afternoon for a taste of Miz Anne's pies and maybe a little holiday cheer. All is right with the world and life is good. George
