Hello, again, dear friends. We are here just one more day before driving down to Chula Vista, near San Diego, to enjoy Christmas with Vivian's family for a few days. This year, as Christmas ornaments, we purchased two unusual and beautiful "Christmas Rose" pointsettias, where the flower bracts are bright red, crinkled and turn inward to form a swirl of red. Gorgeous! I have never really tried to grow pointsettias from potted nursersy stock before. Does anyone have any advice for me? They grow like weeds around here, often to a height of 10 feet, unless blasted by a frost. I know they like night time rest, as do we all, but what kinds of cultural requirements do they have? We learned about night time rest for pointsettias in a very interesting way. My dear mother in law has several large pointsettias along the side of her home. They bloomed early winter every year....until the city installed sodium vapor streetlights on her previously unlighted street...and the pointsettias never bloomed again :( Enjoy your holiday of choice and have a wonderfull happy and healthy new year, full of blossoms and fruits of the earth, and warm sunlight on your shoulders on cool days:) Ron
