Hi all, I am finally back online! Our computer developed some problems in early December. I took it to the shop (warantee work) and did not get it back until today. So I resubscribed and am back. While gone the weather here got really cold. I may have lost about 1/2 of my back garden despite covering it every night with blankets. We can only wait and see. The cosmos seedlings that had come up are done for despite being covered as are all the buds on my roses that were about to burst open. I do think that the bases of the roses are all ok as all are now putting out new growth above the graph. New flowers here we come. The Breynia looks like it is gone, but may come back from the roots (I hope.) Same goes for the Clerodendrums, all five of them. Again they may come back from the roots, but the cold got to them badly. Some of the other seedlings seem to be doing ok. The Bluebonnets and daylilies seem to be sending up new growth despite the cold. ONly one was affected Tinkerbell (tm) the one that was blooming in November. The front bed is almost totally gone, for now. Only the Aztec grass (varigated liriope) stayed green. The lantana and my Plumbago both are brown and crispy. The fuschia is starting to send up new buds so there is something small and green out there. I got a new garden wagon and a grasshopper wheeled garden seat for Christmas. I can't wait to get out there and use them. We are supposed to wait till all chance of frost is over before taking off the dead leaves or branches. They do provide some cold protection for the rest of the winter. Anne in FL zone 9b, sunset 26
