Well, here I go spending money on gardening again. Yesterday was the =
last
day of the Apopka Art, Craft & Foliage Festival. It is rather small
compared to some. But, unlike a few other Art fairs around here they do
carry some affordable art by wonderful artisans.
In the craft section I found lots of ideas for crafts I will never =
start.
In the art section I found one of my son's old teacher's who was =
managing
her husband's booth. Beautiful paintings, very masculine in feeling. =
As
much as I loved them, they don't go with the colors in my house. I
especially loved his partridges and landscapes. But my home is not done =
in
browns, deep reds and deep greens. These were the type paintings you
redecorate around, and they would be well worth it. I also found a =
stained
glass artisan who only does custom work. I want one to hang above a =
half
wall that divides our entrance way from the living room. There used to =
be 3
turned posts, but I took them out years ago. Her prices were not to bad
either, compared to what I have seen in the past. This would go under =
my
home improvement budget, so I may give her a call.
The foliage section was my downfall. I wanted a climbing rose, but that =
was
not to be. They had sold them out the first day. What I did get was a
Floribunda Charisma, two fuschia for hanging pots, a small, as in very, =
pot
of good luck bamboo. And I got my first named orchid! So I now own a
Tetramicaa canaliculalata x. brosanguinea "Tetrantania Dark Prince." =
Boy is
that a mouthful.
I have a habit of killing fuschia, but am hoping the water crystals, =
when I
repot, will save them for me this time. The bamboo is in a 2 inch hand
thrown pot, and now resides in my son's room in his window sill garden. =
The
bamboo it'self is only 2 - 3 inches tall. The vendor it came from also =
had
curly bamboo. They train it to curl around wide PVC pipes using copper
wire. These were also in hand made pots and were very expensive, but =
very
decorative. Guess I could have put that one under household improvement
too, if I really needed it. Only time will tell. I do have a =
neighbor's
son who helps out at this wholesale nursery on occasion, so I have an IN =
if
I do find them irresistable. I could have him beg his friend's father =
to
sell to me. I did not get what I went for, but for the $30 I spent I =
think
I did rather well.
