In the wake of the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001 many are people are finding
ways to make statements of support, sorrow and determination. It occurred
to me that as gardeners perhaps we can do some sort of memorial planting in
remembrance of those who have died in the attacks. If we can get enough
people to participate maybe at least one plant can be planted for each
person who has died. Some of the potential ideas I have are:

1)pass the word asking every gardener that gets the message to plant a
special plant or combinations of plants as a memorial. Examples might be a
red, white and blue grouping, Linden trees, rosemary, any plant that has a
special meaning to the individual gardener, etc....

2) organize community or public gardens as memorials

Any other suggestions or improvement on this idea? Is it a bad or
impractical idea?

If you like this idea please cross post to other lists you are on.
