George, same thing --- when I made reservations at 2:00 in the morning on Feb.14th, Valentine's Day, 1991 -- New York to Los Angeles to St.Louis to Chicago to Rochester (NY) back to New York, combining my Dad's funeral with a stop-off at 3 of the children, we arrived at Kennedy Airport to discover that they had deleted ALL the seats for the entire trip from the computer. That was a mad hassle since it was on 1-day notice, and everything was full! It took 90 minutes to repair the damage -- and then we discovered that Jimmie was missing his driver's license and could not get on the plane! Considering that I had a terrible cold, and that we were both white-haired old critters, the agent finally passed us through.. I survived the flight with the stuffed head, although I certainly advise all creatures big and small never to fly with a cold -- but where was Jim's license...? Turns out that he had been driving without it for 6 months --- when he totalled the car earlier, the policeman had demanded to see the thing once Jim woke up from the knock-out, only Jimmie did not remember anything about that, and the policeman forgot to return it to him...
