Larry, I planted lots of marigolds amongst my hubby's veggies one summer, and that year was the prettiest vegetable garden we ever did have! Nothing disturbed the scallions, but some mean critters ate the lettuce -- ALL of it -- right down to the nubbins on the ground. I was so mad that I refused to dig the tiny stumps out -- and doggone if every one of those lettuce plants didn't up and regrow into full heads! The joke was on me, though --- the lettuce was so bitter that we could not eat it. Didn't see any spider mites and slugs .....
