We've taken one of the "ornamental" cedars out in the front but the other has got to go. No more cedar trees for us. I may save this one until Christmas as it would make a good Christmas tree. We have removed 4 yews and one cedar so far, 1 yew and 1 cedar to go. I think I'll try trimming the cedar first, into a round ornamental shape. The yews left masses of roots like wire maybe even garden cloth all throughout the garden. To dig to put in bulbs I had to get out the giant loppers and cut as I dug. very slow. I can see why people thought that yews in graveyards sent out roots into the mounths of all who were buried there. It looks as if they could, judging from the root system in my front yard.
