Well from your sig line it looks like you live in the city and the option of
ammo is out of the question for sure. I am guessing that the cheapest maybe
the next best option is a live trap with bait in it. They do get hungry. Put
the trap at the base (I guess) of the tree so they can't miss something that
smells wonderful to eat. Hopefully they will decide to dine and get trapped.
If your really lucky maybe those babies are not born yet or still tiny and
in the pouch? and you will catch most of them.
I would think the trap is a lot cheaper than the paid removal and you
can also reuse it for other critters. Just don't forget if you try this that
there isn't a sign at the door that says possums only. You may catch a
skunk, squirrel, coon, cat, small dog or anything else that will fit and
want to eat the goodies.
I can't think of anything else other than trying to climb up and poke
the nest down with a long pole and taking a chance of getting a hat full of
critter and who knows what else.
If you do catch them you will then have to decide what to do with them.
You either remove them to the country, kill them in some way or maybe get
some city or state agency to remove them for you if they are willing.
