I just received the monthly newsletter from Seminis Vegetable (formerly Petoseed). Here's what Jim Waltrip writes: "HEIRLOOM FROM RUSSIA You will be hearing a lot more about Caspian Pink tomato, an heirloom our production people found in Russia. Most people who tested it in our 1997 and 1998 trials said they thought the taste was even better than Brandywine, which was planted right next to it. Caspian Pink also outyeilded Brandywine by 29%, but that's no feat. Everything outyields Brandywine. Caspian Pink will be available for your year 2000 retail program." Sounds interesting! I've been selling AAS Floramerica, a F1 hybrid which compares well to Brandywine, but I would much prefer an open-pollinated varitey. Dave Anderson Tough Love Chile Co. http://www.tough-love.com
