In all my years of tomato growing, I've never heard of 
"cannonball-itis", but I'm guessing that you're talking about large 
beefsteak-like fruits. If you are, you weren't growing Floramerica. 
Send me your snail-mail address privately, and I'll send you some 
seeds. Floramerica is a hybrid, so if you saved seeds, you could have 
been growing anything.
