Anna Have transplanted the following deeper with excellent results Tomatoes, Caul, Sprouts, cabbage, lettuce and Brocc. Peppers did not seem to start new roots above the original potting soil line. I know from experience that it works with tomatoes (and it's a frequent tip in garden guides.) Some types of plants would probably be harmed by having too much of their stems buried.
