Yea, I think he is the long lost relative to Hoary Vetch.  Off shoot of Madison
and Wolly(pod) Vetch, or was it the cross of Bard and Mona Vetch??.  :-))  Of
course, they are not related to the Crownvetch common-wealth from the old
country, of English origin.

In all seriousness though, vetch is a wonderful cool season green manure and has
been used as such for decades.  Very hardy and does well with soils that are
well drained.  Is a cool season forage, but not very useful for grazing purposes
due to a poor leaf:stem ratio.
