Hi Bill, The weather is a part of your problem. Sometimes double blossoms will create double or even triple tomatoes. Black Krim is one variety on which I have noticed this situation. It is disfiguring but does not affect the taste. There is also what is known as cat facing which occurrs when bits of petal stick to the surface of the incipient fruit. The partial ripening is thought to be caused by different blossoms which are pollinated at different times joining together to form one fruit. In such cases the deliniation is usually quite evident. As you have noted, Eva Purple Ball is rarely affected by either of these things and I gree with you that it may be the most beautiful of all tomatoes. Have you tried Manyel as a companion to Eva? It's about the same size and its clear yellow color is very complimentary to Eva's deep pink in a salad. Good gardening, Chuck Wyatt wttp://www.heirloomtomatoes.net
