The burn is more complex. I find >most Asian hot peppers to be sharper. Bottom line, I don't get the I agree with ya, mon. While there are different levels of heat received from different chiles, or even between diff. "batches" of same chiles, habaneros and scotch bonnets, IMO, have an intense grab-your-spine-make-your-brain-scream burn that seems to be more, um, well, internal, for lack of a better word. Thais and other chiles - and mind you, my experiences w/various chiles are pretty much limited to the "typical" chiles, i.e. japs, serranos, Thais, cayennes, blah, blah - have a more "frontal" burn. Mouth burns, tongue burns, etc.; sorta "external". Habs and SB's, as said, wait until it's too late to spit 'em out (not that I ever would...'bout as sacraligious [oh, spell checker!] as one can get..) and then sink into yer innards, your throat, neck, spine, shoulders, dance in the belly, bobsled down the 'testins, and often, do some kickboxin' on the way out w/Mr. Colon. Such sheer pleasure it is... I luvs my habs and SBs. I like dem Thai/serrano/etc. chiles too, oh my, but it just depends on what Rael be in da mood for, what's cooking, or who's the Twister partner... Had me some sushi rice the other day - sweet as can be - and doused the hell outta it w/crushed habaneros. Close to the ultimate in balance. Da Chef walked up to me and told me to quit licking my bowl..."unprofessional looking", said he. I told him to step back away from my rice-n-chile or we wuz gonna throw-down, and reached for my Dick (as in F. Dick...a brand of knife...seriously...you pre-verts..hehe...) to show him I twernt joshin'... He backed away, smartus manus that he isus... No point there. Just felt like sharing <g>.
