I don't have a problem with deer where I live now (in the desert) but a few years back I had an acre under cultivation in a deer-prone area. I found that clumps of cotton (torn from a roll, not those little bitty cotton balls) soaked in Vicks Vaporub and tied with strings in my trees along the fences and in susceptible plants kept the deer away. Occasionally at night I would hear my dogs alert and I would see deer come up to the fence, and after a whiff of the Vicksshake their heads, snort and turn away. I also had hog wire fencing, laying FLAT on the ground around the outside of my garden fences as the deer step on it and it feels to them like it will catch their hooves so they back away and can't jump the fences. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So.
