This weekend we made two trips to a new Harris Teeter grocery store that
opened this week near the entrance to the Peninsula at Lake Norman north of
Charlotte, NC. The produce section has an incredible selection. There is
a large bin of firm, fresh, and beautiful Orange Habaneros priced at $1.99
per pound and large Green Chilies at only $1.49 per pound. The jumbo red
sweet bells are only $1.99 a pound. The serrano and jalapeno peppers were
also looking very fresh. Other purchases included fresh tomatillos,
cilantro, jicama, avocados, and portabella mushrooms. All the fresh
produce displayed is of absolutely superb quality, which has not always
been the case, at least in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte, NC anyway.
The prices will probably be jacked up over time particularly after the
management's grand opening theme wears off, but in the meantime, it is
heaven to us.

Directions for any Chile Heads in the Charlotte area who want to scoop up
some great Habs and other fresh produce at great prices are as follows:

Take Interstate 77 north from Charlotte, NC. Take Exit 28 to Hwy 73. Go
west past the old Harris Teeter and on for about 1.5 miles and look for the
new one on right side of Hwy 73.

No affiliation with Harris Teeter, just real happy they put one of their
big flagship stores in the area. Now we have a real grocery store!
