greetings and salutations fellow chilizens: once again i write regarding my problematic little garden. we copped a break the last couple of days here in sunny (read hellishly hot) Florida with some overcast skies, cooler temperatures (in the mid 80's) and some sundry rain. ok, i said, after mulching, praying, cursing, etc., maybe i can get some blossoms to stick. so far so good. the bad news is that the aphids, who have always been something of a perpetual nemesis to me have decided to take over. i inspect my plants every morning and can't begin to describe the loathing i feel when i turn over a leaf to see hundreds of these soft-bodied little punks. i douse them with insecticidal soap and shake my fist at them. but every morning, we have to repeat the process all over again. i can't spray them off because we don't have a garden hose that'll reach the second story (where the plants are). anyway, i hate to trouble you all again but the problem is getting pretty severe. is there any preventative maintenance i can perform that can rid me forever of what i prefer to think of as satan's head lice? your suggestions would be most appreciated!
