Rain... My xperience w/cilantro: The first time I ever had it, I tossed my cookies! Had it in pico de gallo in San Antone. Worst tasting crap I'd ever eaten! Could NOT believe, like you, folks would ever eat the stuff - tasted like soap, and CHEAP soap at that! Well, in San Antonio, there is NO getting away from the stuff, as you can imagine. And know what? I developed a liking for it! Yup! Now LOVE the stuff, can't get enuff of it! Even grow it each summer sos I can have fresh whenever I want. I'll eat it fresh picked, all by itself. Best thing in the world is "green eggs": scrambled eggs with cilantro, Velveeta and jalapenos. To DIE for! Know what else? It no longer tastes like soap to me. Go figure. I'll be interested in watching the replies received here. Maybe a titch off topic, but I think an interesting one. I'm new to the list, have been lurking about two months now. Am not a chile head of long standing... Maybe about 4, 5, 6 months? Sumpin' like that. What really got me going was reading Amaj Nal's book on peppers - so damn facinating! Then got me 'The Whole Chile Pepper Cookbook,' and am having the BEST time with that! (At the same time I purchased TWCPC, got the Gilroy garlic cookbook... NEAT cookbook! Just thought I'd toss that in!) And recently got the Tabasco(r) cookbook. But let me tell you about my day today... I found some men's flannel boxers at Walmart w/chiles on them! They're SO NEAT!!! So, I put on green tights, the boxers over them, and a green sweatshirt and took myself off to MOA (Mall Of America... Hi, Chris!) to visit Calido Chile Traders (formerly Lots'a Hotta) in search of chile accoutraments - I'm doing my kitchen in red and green and want to decorate with chile stuffs. The chile accessories were disappointing (bummer), but the guys in the store LOVED the boxers (ah... I'm female! <g>), and I ended up getting a "Chile Head" t-shirt where the "I" is a chile (to go with the boxers), and THE COOLEST chile socks!!! Wore those outta the store! Also got a Chile Pepper magazine. Not the most substantial magazine, but... well... Ittiz better than NO magazine on chiles! Sampled "Da'Bomb". Jeezuz Christ, Mary Mother o'God! Wussed out, big time! HOTTER'UN HELL!!! Broke out in a sweat, got feeling happy and... well... lettuce say "amorous"!!! And this was from just a coating on the tip of a toothpick!!! The store manager had to give me some cream cheese dip on a chip to cool my mouth down! We all got a good laugh outta it. Yours in chilehood - green
