I contacted the ISP of the person that caused the spam, and it turns out that the person that is advertized naively contracted to have his site and business advertized without knowing about the spam issues involved. The ISP is actively pursuing the actual spammer, and they know the party that did the actual spamming, and they are following up with legal action. They (the ISP) hate spammers, and claim that this is one that won't get away. They suggested that I pass this information (that the spammer won't get away this time) on to my fellow chile-heads. As to calling the 800 number, please only call it once or twice a day, otherwise, you may be considered to be harassing the number, and may get the charges bounced to you. I am not actually sure about that though. The email address advertized was indeed a valid one, but the spam did not come from or through that ISP (they are innocent), and the servers used by the spammer were apparently hijacked. The ISP warned their naive user that this spam could ruin the person's business after the spam was discovered, but they have little sympathy for their user. They figure, as I do, that he will and should reap the rewards of what he has sown. I just thought I'd pass on what I'd learned and some thoughts on the subject. Chuck Demas Needham, Mass.
