David Cronin asked about different types of bulbs for starting seeds. I have had great sucess with "regular" cool white fluorescent bulbs. I have 4 lights (2 feet long) spaced about 4 inches apart which I suspend above a seed flat. The flat sits atop a box that contains a 15 watt bulb that gives off just enough heat to keep the soil at 85-90 F. Last year I planted 70 + seeds in the flat and I think all but one or two germinated. I have used the expensive grow bulbs (G.E. Sunlight fluorescent) but did not notice any improvement and to be perfectly honest, I think the regular bulbs are better. -- Robert Lusk aka: The Pepper Fool http://www.PepperFool.com Recipes, Photos, Restaurant Reviews and more..
