Forwarded From: Margoleath Berman <mberman@edumedia.com> (by way of Mary Going <mary@firegirl.com>) I am the Webmaster for Scientific American Frontiers, a series of educational science specials on PBS. In our next show, host Alan Alda asks some of "Life's Little Questions," (http://www.pbs.org/saf/questions.html) and finds some pretty big scientific answers, including the burning question, "Why Are Peppers Hot?" Scientific American Frontiers' "Life's Little Questions" (Show 904), an all-new episode of the PBS science series Scientific American Frontiers, will air on Wednesday, February 24, at 8 p.m. ET. Learn why the same compound that makes chile peppers hot also relieves some forms of pain. After the show airs, Linda Bartoshuk of Yale Medical School will be available to answer tasteful questions. Please help us spread the word about this fascinating show to all the chili-heads you know through e-mail, listservs, newsgroups, or mailing lists you participate in or maintain. We hope you will include a link to our website, http://www.pbs.org/saf/questions.html. There are some free link graphics available at http://www.pbs.org/saf/promo. In addition to linked resources and the Ask the Scientists section, the site also contains video preview clips, a teaching guide for the show, polls, a viewer challenge game, a photo journal of host Alan Alda's adventures while filming, and more. You can even find instructions (in "Don't Try This At Home") for an experiment to find out if you're a supertaster. Please let me know if you would like more information about the show (or the rest of the season)...or if there is anything we can do for you. I look forward to hearing from you. Very Best, Margoleath Berman SAF Webmaster http://www.pbs.org/saf/questions.html mberman@edumedia.com 800-523-5948
