A couple of questions based on the Penzeys Spices catalog.... Has anybody ever tried growing some of the Dundicut peppers from seed? The catalog describes them as "The traditional hot pepper of Pakistan, similar in flavor and appearance to Scotch Bonnet peppers." Penzeys rates them at about 60,000 SHU (Scoville Heat Units). The reason I'm asking is that I planted some with seed I got out of the dried peppers I got from Penzeys about a year ago. About 15 seeds were planted a week ago, and so far 1 has sprouted. I put 3 seeds in each spot, not being sure of the germination rate or if the peppers had been nuked. Hopefully, more should sprout. I just wanted to try them, and hadn't seen the seeds listed in any of the catalogs. On the topic of heat ratings of different peppers, is there any reason that Chipotles should have a lower heat rating than Jalapenos? Penzeys lists their crushed & powdered Japalenos at 55,000 SHU, while their Chipotles are only listed as 15,000 SHU. I find this hard to believe. Thanks for any feedback, Jeff Johnson Germantown, OH
