> Could you tell me which is , and how many HU's of the hottest Habanero > you carry in seed stock. Thank you. I get this question all the time so I'm answering to all of you. I don't know. Caribbean Red Habanero was tested by the supplier at about 465,000 Scoville Units, but this is my first year growing it. Red Savina Habanero, which I don't sell, was beat out by my Orange Habanero in heat tests two years ago. Red Savina was grown under ideal conditions in the San Francisco Bay area while Orange Habanero was grown with benign neglect. I don't water until the leaves droop. Red Habanero, Safi Red, and West Indian Red, are all from new suppliers this year, so they haven't been heat tested, but they are all hot, and I doubt that anyone trying a taste test could tell the difference. HPLC testing can determine the heat level, but the same pepper on a different plant, the same plant, or the same garden will test differently. I think that stressed plants develop more heat than others, but am not aware of any scientific evidence which supports my ideas.
