Hi Gang - From Florida, Actually Datils are hot..I live about 30 miles north of their (Datil-Do-It) farm but they don't have a lock on growing these babies...The Feed Store in St. Augustine (Hwy 16) sell about 3000 plants a season and they also supply a few places around the area. I have to agree on the Devil Drops because they do have a bit of bite but all their other products taste good but no heat. Two years ago I bought seeds from Davis Seed out of Havana Florida and had real good results but haven't bought from them since. Word to the wise on growing Datils, keep em in the heat.....they do not like a chill..I currently have 18 growing and it's been cool (low 50's) the past two nights and they do not look good...But this is Florida and it'll be hot as hell in a day or so and those babies will perk right up. By the way, they are all in pots (3 gal) and I always get 50 to 75 peppers off each plant. Datils ---A very hot, yet so unique tasting pepper.. truly one of a kind. At the end of the season I'll save some seeds from this crop and would be happy to disperse them to those who would like to give it a try. Big Mo from the Beach, Actually I sold my condo and have moved to Jax to be closer to work ----(Fire and Rescue- EP). P.S. Nakid Twister player actually wrote the above!!!!
