First, I doubt if bananas have enough potassium to raise the extracellular concentration so high as to make a difference in nerve conduction. Calcium influx due to capsaicin is, as far as I know (which may not be state of the art) not lowered by raising extracellular potassium concetration, the opposite, if anything. Maybe bananas adsorb the capsaicin? Do bananas contain any fat? Habaneros (seeds sent by Dave Anderson) doing very nicely indeed, Charleston Cayenne seem to be a bit slower.
