Since chiles can be consumed when green, it sounds like your Serranos are getting close. Serranos can be anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 inches long. I ate many a Serrano green until a good friend let some of hers ripen to red on the plant. She dried them and gave me a handful that I ground into powder. It was Wonderful! The full flavor of the chile is realized at complete ripeness, and, arguably, the full pungency. It sounds like you're in for a great year! In Chiles, Doug
