Hey Chile-Heads, I'm in heaven! I was lucky enough to find a gift of The Bread in my mailbox yesterday. What can I say? It is AWESOME!!! Thanx Jim! And to top it off, when I got up this morning, it was raining and has been off and on all day. I realize a lot of you CHs have had your fill of crying skies, but in So. MS, we've been near drought - only had a couple days of rain in the last 2 1/2 months, coupled with upper 90 degree heat/humidity, it's been brutal. As for the datil question, I overwintered one in a pot last year & it's been growing really well. As a matter of fact, a few have ripened in the last few days & the one I ate last night is real close to the heat of a hab, with just a slight difference in flavor. Being in a pot & our lack of rain, it gets major stressed between waterings. A friend just came back from Florida with a Red Savina plant that has chiles on it - said he'd bring me some when ripe. As slow growers as they are, I'm going to plant some seeds ASAP & keep in pots, so maybe by early next spring, I'll be getting fruit. The potted hab I have is a big beautiful healthy plant, but hasn't set any fruit. I think it's just been too damn hot. While I'm rambling, one more thing: As I was eating that datil with last night's meal, my husband made the remark (saying he wasn't trying to make any wrong impressions), but he said "I hope when you die, you go to hell". Me: "Gee thanks, hon." He: "What I mean is, when you meet the devil, and you hand him a pepper, it'll blow him away." I took it as a compliment. He thinks I'm crazy. Hope all your chiles are doing well. Back to lurk. pMurphy
