I definitely feel the effect of capsaicin-induced endorphin release, but,
for the most part, it isn't a mind-reeling, knee-buckling, "mercy, I'm
meetin' my Maker" sort of feeling. It's more of a general feeling of
relaxed well being. An example: I sat on a committee that was working on a
large networking project and one of the engineers and I were at odds most of
the time. There were times when I would come out of those Friday afternoon
meetings nearly apoplectic. One Friday Santa Esperanza de la Habanero
brought me a small bag of Habaneros from her garden. I ate two of them with
my lunch that day. At the meeting that afternoon I was relaxed, focused,
and, for the most part, unflappable. I started making Habaneros with lunch
a Friday tradition!
