I have had more luck sprouting "accidental" Rocotos and had no luck at all with the ones I planted on purpose and nutured carefully in a small Gro-Pak. Last year I had some dried rocotos and used them in a sauce. I discarded the seeds and tossed them into my worm composter. The inside of this thing is dark, warm and moist. I have several and rotate adding kitchen waste to each in turn. It was probably about 3 weeks before I opened that container again to add some veggie waste. Nestled inside were a bunch of seedlings about 3 -4 inches tall with 2 "true" leaves just beginning to develop. I selected the 6 sturdiest seedlings and planted them and they grew beautifully. Hey, maybe they are shy and like privacy, darkness, and warmth. -- Andie Paysinger & the PENDRAGON Basenjis,Teafer,Cheesy,Singer & Player asenji@earthlink.net So. Calif.
