Just, for those who are interested to know... how chiles in the Netherlands Grow.... And for all my CH friends to tell how your seeds are doing... And I can tell you that this year is going to look great as most of the seeds I got has been germinated well. I started at January 30, but had some problems too. the original Chiltepin and the Texas Chiltepin didn't came up at all. At the moment the Chiltepin 'Calvins' are about 3 inches high. Most of the chocolate Habanero germinated in 13 days and are solid plants from 3-4 inches high some were much slower and needed 15 day's more before I could transplant them in bigger pots. Perth; all of those germinated within 7 days and are healthy plants of 5 inches tall. With the seeds I got from Chuck I was less lucky, but the Cambucy did very well and these showed there heads in 7 days too but the Red Habanero only one out of ten germinated and is still only 2 inch high, but is looking good. The Early Maturing Red Aji didn't show at all. tested only one germinated and is only 2 inches high. But the good thing is that the Rocotto I started last year (6 survived, there all in one 15 inch pot) are still doing great, I cut them down in December, after I harvested the last 15 ripen rocottos, till about I only had some stems of 6 inches left (without any leaves) left it in a cold room and was carefully with water and has now made all new stems and leaves. The Big Jim's I grow (had them from Margaret) non of the seeds I saved did germinate, but the seed I still had from two years ago did very well 90% still germinate. I think I had the seeds out of them too soon, they were not fully ripen but I like green.... The rest of my varieties like Chiles Grande, Tobasco, Rawit, Thai, Aji Oema, Madame Jeanette, Red Cayennes and an other un known kind are doing great, most of them are between 3 and 5 inch tall. Most of my seedling I have transplanted from the seed trays (one liter ice buckets with 1 inch soil) after about 28 days, 3 pieces per 3 inch pots. I have one set standing in front of the window on the south side of the house in the cold room, the others are in front of the window at the north side of the house. But the ones at the north side are getting warm feet from the central heating below and these are one inch a head of the south 'team', but there stems are less thick and stable. They all are planted in normal potting soil. Thanks my friends making my life so colorful. Hot Regards Rob NL
