I went shopping at Coles at Chermside on the weekend, and found what seem to be Bishop's Crown chillies for sale! Excellent, signs of civilisation in the big country town! They now have habs, jalapenos, BCs, cayennes and thai hot. The BCs didn't seem to be so hot to me, which was a surprise because I thought they were a chinense and hence deadly. In other news, I went so Saucey Pete's stand at the Cleveland markets, and Pete is a guy who knows his chillies. He offers jalapeno sauce, two types of habanero, and another which I have forgotten (cayenne?). I think it was the Buttsen Burner which was the hottest, it was quite as hot as anything I have tasted except Mad Dog Inferno. I guess there is a limit to how hot a sauce using real chillies can get. I had my first peanut butter and habanero sandwich last night. Very nice! It was like a right of passage :-). For some reason my wife is looking at me very strangely since then...
