Hope everyone had a hot Fourth of July. My wife and I went back down to Lake Geneva, WI this weekend for a getaway. She shopped for clothes, jewelry and toys for the kids and I used my allowance to buy dried Guajillos, Cayenne Pepper powder, Dave's Insanity and some Datil hot sauce. So at least it was money well spent. My mother, who is a Chile Head, is spending the summer with us so its great to have someone else in the house to share some hot stuff with. She had a great suggestion for eating corn on the cob. She liberally sprinkles (or I should say coats well) the cob with Cayenne pepper powder. That's one thing I have never tried. It's pretty darn good. I'll eat alot more corn on the cob this year. Then I pulled out the Dave's Insanity sauce. We had venison and kohlrabi with egg noodles. I cautioned her that Dave's was a whole different animal then even the Hab's I send her. She was very cautious but after the first bite she declared Dave's Insanity sauce "damn hot". It was the first time I ever remember her asking for a piece of bread or a banana to cool down the burn of peppers. And, finally, I have to agree with Baker R. that Tabasco Hab Sauce is pretty good and I still like the original occasionally on eggs and pizza.
