He sold the mane and Fire Brand (tm) to some folks from Chambana... along with a recipe - which they didn't follow.Their quality was never sonsistent in the later years - which is why they went belly-up. Mary Ann, Joe Rogers daughter, opened the parlour on 9th Street about 6 months before the Den folded. She has her dad's recipes and is doing a land office business. BTW - you can tell them to hold the oil when you order your chilli. You'll still get some... but, not an amount you could swim in. I'm taking the early arriver at my "Not a hotluck" there on Friday. They are chilli parlor deprived and deserve a chance to see how it is done right. None of them believe that someone can make a good living in a food establishment that sells only chilli, hot dogs, and loose hamburgs... oh, and the occasional tamale. But, Mary Ann does right well.
