Unlearking or delearking for my occasional post. I to was at the local grocery store and found a product that looked good. Mission Chiles Gueritos. The jar promised "this yellow chili is very hot and can be used for salsas or pickled vegetables". Unlike the earlier posts in this thread, these were as advertised. They are smallish peppers 2 inches long at most and no bigger than a mans thumb around. They look like they may be Tabasco type peppers harvested early as some of them are starting to turn reddish. The 16 oz (473 ml) jar is packed with these peppers. They are hot, perhaps not "very hot" but you know the cap is there when you bit into one. Last year I bought a jar of Habanero pickled peppers. Now that was very hot. They were about the size of large marbles. Have to admit I had to give them away to my mother. btw does anyone know what gueritos means? As a midwestern boy with a Dutch German background, I have no Spanish in me. The garden update includes a beautiful chili crop in progress. Janie at Cross Country Nurseries supplied the plants (at a nominal fee), mother nature the sun and most of the rain and I added the sweat. Looks like a great harvest of Hinkle Hatz which are quite hot, the Congo reds are slowly ripening. The several varieties of Paprika I planted for powders are just starting to turn and my favorite Huasteco Serrano is doing great with tons of little peppers just waiting. Returning now to lurk mode in Omaha. Vince
