I haven't approached him yet about picking other stuff. I'm still working him up to the *actual* number expected ;-) You know- 'hey George, there might be as many as 15 people at this thing' (last week), this week I've bumped it up to 25 & next week I intend to tell him 35 or more :-) They have a farm market about 20 minutes from the fields, back on Indy's southside. I'm sure they would LOVE to have you come & take all you want from there for payments ;-) In lieu of brining me anything (which I'll refuse:-) go by there & get something. Good will from my landlord is something I can always use! All that having been said, I will see where they are with their harvest & see if anything can be spared. I'd suspect 2nd pick on sweet corn is okay, but melons & apples are likely to be a no-no. We had a late frost which pretty well wiped out their apple crop so they are none to happy anyway. Worst crop since the early 80's when I used to really work there. I hoped to have T-shirts for everyone but got going too late on it- my bad. There'll be other stuff though from some of us 'evil coporate types' :-) I just hope we don't have a freeze before then! Lows late this week are expected into the uppper 40's!!! Two weeks and counting! Worst part is, open fields hasn't even moved up into the 'top five' crisis of the moment list yet ;-) Should do that about mid next week :-) Part of what has kept me hopping is industry related. Insert all the disclaimers you need here. CaJohn's Fiery Foods (one of the main people I make sauces for) has recently acquired Sun Coast Peppers. That means that yours truly is now the maker El's Red Eye, Viscious Viper, Currybean Fiesta, and several others. This brings the total number of sauces that I make to about 30. Sheeesh! This is almost getting to be a REAL job ;-) -Jim C Mild to Wild
