[CH] Early Jalapenos

Fellow CHers,

During our last harvest of this season, we noticed that our early jalapenos 
have black down one side of them.  It doesn't appear to have any impact on 
the quality of the pepper pod since the side with the discoloration is still 
firm.  We checked all of our chile books but can't figure out what the heck 
this and what caused it.

Any ideas on what this stuff is and why it happened?
