Used to ride meself, but in SoCal--gas powered (Harley), too.  Froze enuff
times but never frostbite, although sometimes it felt like it.  But I got
the impression the rider ate the chiles _after_ the ride.  Interesting,
though.  I wonder if it's more than endorphin's but maybe increases the
circulation too.  Bet so.

Of course he mentions Canuk $, so he's definitely exposed and frostbite is
never something to toy with.
