Cameron you have to remember the show "Eat the Heat" was an introduction to sharing a passion for eating hot foods, for the publics interest and not persay a show for Chileheads....I think it was an excellent start! The show brought the hot sauce industry to the public's eye, and talked about Tabasco, only because the public was familiar with it, that was a personal touch of hot sauce history, for the family that started the hot sauce craze........I don't do Tobasco much either.......but to get the public picking up that bottle of hot sauce that sits at the restaurant table, you have to introduce it first........ you have to take baby steps to educate the world. If they were to have a show just on Chileheads, the public would think we're all nuts <EG>. Tyler was showing the public the passion some folks have for hot, it was fun to watch! As for the duels you mentioned, and Chileheads being laid back.....I've seen some mighty macho wars won over who could handle the heat..lol~ As for your six recomendations, these I agree with the most: 4 Many C-H's grow their own. How about a bit on chile gardening and some of the more unusual varieties that we grow? 5 The last comment (4) above leads right into drying, smoking, preserving, making hot sauces etc. 6 TWISTER!! No offense at all taken, just my 2 cents....you can't throw the public into the life of a Chilehead without starting out with the basics first.....and it has to be fun for the public to take interest! I think the show did just that! p.s I want to be in the 'Eat the Heat" segment, when they share the interest of the chile growing, making sauce and jam, collecting pepper everything crew!! :O) Debra~ zone 8b Southeast Texas "Women are like tea bags.
