At the grocery store yesterday, I saw some gorgeous habs, so of course, I had to pick some up. Since it was a pretty day, about 15-20 friends came over for beer and barbecue... so I got creative with salsa. The big hit of the gathering was (don't laugh!) an Apple-Habanero creation adapted from a Mango-Habanero salsa recipe. It was a small batch, but I was forced to make more. Hey, use what you have on hand and see where it takes you. Somebody will usually eat it. :) (amounts approximate) 2 apples (they were smallish, with crisp flesh) 2 habs, washed and de-seeded about half a red onion fresh cilantro lime salt Dice the apples into fairly small pieces. Run the habaneros, onion, a little lime zest, and cilantro through the food processor, with lime juice. Toss this with the apple pieces, and more lime juice to get the right consistency. Salt to taste. Everyone ate it on tortilla chips with gusto! Of course, they were all drinking a lot of beer... so who knows? :) Anyway, that's it! Suggestions for improvements/etc. are welcomed!
