On our way to Kings Canyon last June Mary and I stopped at a roadside ranch store in the Calif Central Valley during our honeymoon. Phillips ranch. We went in to buy some fruit and decided to taste and compare the wines this ranch produced to those of the Sonoma Valley we'd left that morning. Award winning and outstanding! We bought a number of bottles, in fact we have one left for our 1st anniversary this May. We struck a conversation with the owner and complimented him on the quality of his wines. As we left he gave us a bottle of probably the same Zin that Cost Plus has for $8. It was $5 at the ranch. Scared me, too cheap. Well, we drank that on the bank of the Kings River with a seafood pasta (made at camp, with chiles of course) while we fished. It was excellent! I really regretted not getting more. Of course the circumstances enhanced our enjoyment, but it's good wine. According to Mr Phillips their wines weren't available at the time here in So Calif. But if Cost Plus is carrying them here we come! Riley
