Well, I'm hoping the guy near here stays in business, as I buy the aforementioned salsas from him; and also some dip mixes. I don't think he'll have a problem, as he carries a good variety of household items (some chile, and some just general southwest-type, designs). He has more household / decor type items, and grilling sauces, etc. than hot sauces and salsas. In fact, maybe his mark up is so high on the sauces due to the fact that he doesn't stock a lot of them. He has a decent variety compared to other stores in the area, but probably not more than 25 - 30 different sauces, and, maybe 10 - 15 different salsas. But he's the only game in town, or within a 50 - 100 (?) mile range, more like. It seems that, perhaps, the hot sauce thing is still very much more of a novelty here than a dietary staple; so he focuses more on the decorative items. > Sorry to keep the thread going and, like other CH oriented businesses, we > really appreciate your support. You probably didn't mean it that way - just one of those things > I'm sensitive to! Nope, you're quite right. I didn't mean anything of the sort. I still give them as much business as I ever did. My point was that my wife and I go through a bunch of Melindas sauce, for which he charges $7.00 / bottle, and carries one variety, I think. I just ordered 8 bottles of sauce (6 different varieties) plus one jar of salsa from them directly, and with shipping it's gonna' run me $37.75. That's an average of just over $4.00 / item, as I said, with shipping. Even if I wanted to pay the extra $27.00, and could afford to every time I buy sauce, he doesn't carry more than the one variety of their (Figuero Bros.) sauce; and I believe none of the salsa. So, being the informed consumer I am, I go where I get the variety I want, for the value I need. Were there a shop close by that carried what I like, for a reasonably competitive price, I'd have no problem paying a few (stress few) extra dollars. Unfortunately, the only shop I'm aware of with a wonderful variety of sauces and salsas, is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from here. -- Erich Defending my right to frugality to the grave!!!
