Just a caution, some recycling centers also compost kitchen waste in with
veggie type waste. This type of compost
can be a little smelly..

Some folks are compost nuts.. IE pick up a banana peel in a parking lot..
Dumpster diving and esp in fall picking up leaves that are left on the curb
for pick up.. Getting coffee grounds at Starbucks etc. Getting veggie
scraps at local super markets.

Just adding compost to the surface, lots of folks do this, Find book by
Ruth Stout..

Adding compost to the surface is a lot better than plactic because when your
done, just till it in and feed the soil too.

Another method for space challanged gardeners is newspaper. Add about 4 to 8
layers of B&W wet newspaper and a little mulch on top. Great weed blocker.
Also rots into soil and helps hold moisture, and improves soil.

If you want a lot of compost materials, just put up signs at the end of
your drive,
Grass clippings and leaves wanted. Just make sure signs are easily
removeable. I know a gal just north of NYC collected over 30 cu yds in 3
weekends. A small veggie farmer near here had over 400 cu yds in one fall.

Just a thought
