Sorry for late reply.. behind reading like always.
Margaret is right, I sent Chile Grande seeds to Dewi , and got the first
seed from Margaret a few years ago.
Found them very easy to grow, indoors and outdoors, but be aware that they
easy cross with others.
It is still one of my favorite Chile's I grow each year, nice size ( they
become around 10 cm long 3cm thick and some wrinkles) There quit mild so
that every body likes them specially when filled with hot meatloaf and
grilled with a little cheese on top.
I use them often in salad's but also nice with a dipping sauce.
Taste is like cayenne but not as strong.
Hot regards
Rob NL

Chile grande is a tapered chile, ca. 2 inches long, one inch
across at the
top, hot and good flavored. I think Dewi got her seeds from
me or Rob
Pieters, and he may have gotten them from me. Excellent
chile, but my
chile grande seeds didn't germinate this year, alas. It's not a
hybrid. Margaret L
Hi Pods,
A number of you have sent me seeds. The Rocotos from Cameron, the
Fatalis from Alex in NY, the Aji Amarillos from Calvin in Texas all
germinate and thrive. Thank you for the seeds and the knowledge.
Miss Dewi sent me a number of varieties--they all germinated
except for
the Mushrooms, so far. I have one plant from last year (from The
ChileWoman, Susan Byers) so not too concerned.
One of the types Miss Dewi sent was a "chile grande". A quick search
didn't turn up a reference to it. Neither did I find it at
ChileWoman's nor Cross Country. Anyone know what it is? Possibly a
hybrid which won't breed true? Germinated quite easily.
Thanks all,
Riley
