>Also, this morning on the mexican-cooking newsgroup >I frequent there was a post about vineyards and wineries around >the Las Cruces, NM area. Anyone know if they're worth a visit? > Rich -- While living in NM, I tried many of the local wines (including chile wines) but was never terribly impressed (although never went to wineries) -- they are maybe slightly lower in quality than, say, Temecula wines. So, there is promise, but the vineyards, I think, are still too young (BTW, my generalized California wine hierarchy would go something like Sonoma, Napa, Santa Barbara, Temecula). I bought a fantastic Syrah in Temecula about two years ago and I am still sitting on it. I plan to open in another 3 or 4 years. But I digress.... If you can make it up the 25 to Truth or Consequences, there is a fabulous New Mexican restaurant there that serves sopapillas as big as your head -- drizzled with honey and ground red chile, they can't be beat. Don't remember the name of the place, but T or C is a small town. You might want to visit the bathhouse as well.... Matt ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ T.
