Hi Phil, I have a chile in a pot working on it's third regular season. Every year I move it inside for the winter. It gets decidedly poor light but manages to consistantly put out a few peppers at a time all winter. By spring it usually has lost a lot of leaves and, like yours, has a lot of 'dead' material. I wait to see where the new leaf growth seems to be the most lush/energetic/vibrant. Then I prune back the other parts leaving the main stem and the best healthy parts. In a couple of days the parts that are left really take off since there is less competition from other branches. Scott... KCK
