Aw heck, that's normal food around ranch country!
Very few are thrown away at branding time.  The
last ranch we were at wasn't so good though.  They
raised and sold bulls so no nuts at the branding. :(
 At UNL (Cornhuskers) one of the ag frats holds a 
Busch and Balls party every year.  When I switched 
and went to Wyoming our Block and Bridle club held 
a Nut Fest.  Nuts are great when dipped or cooked 
with Chile heat!!!

Now I'm hungry......
