I must be missing something here.. but what on earth are you talking about?
"Historical note" according to whom?  What is your source for this?

I can't stand when people start talking about rumored events that clearly
are reactionary and unfounded.  This is what runs our country down the
crapper. Enough already.  If you have a problem with the ACLU or any other
group, liberal or conservative, just say it. Don't try to pass off
unsubstantiated stories about "hit men" as some sort of truth.  There has
been enough anguish in our country over the past week, and we really don't
need outrageous accusations and insinuations that only add fuel the fire of
hatred.  We need to move on, get a grip and start dealing with the realities
that face us.   Hopefully, some of us can maintain a focus on the important
issues and not get sidetracked by all the baloney in the world.
