I store chile seeds in fridge in a container with a little silica gel, and last spring seeds collected 15 years ago from market-purchased chiles still germinated OK (though I have to admit after 10 years or so germination rate did begin to drop from the nearly 100% that is normally expected of chile seeds). Obviously storage in such conditions doesn't apply to forgotten chiles found years later, but it is a lesson for saving seeds of the varieties we really like. --- Brent
